Ziyad Sidawi, CPA, CMA
Ziyad Sidawi is a Chartered Professional Accountant with nearly a decade of experience supporting non-profit organizations across the community services, developmental services, arts and culture, and housing sectors. He specializes in financial oversight, operational leadership, and funding compliance, with deep knowledge of Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) requirements and practices.
His work has included process improvement initiatives, implementation of individualized budgeting tools, and oversight of housing subsidy programs. Ziyad brings a strategic approach to helping organizations manage complex funding environments, improve internal systems, and meet stakeholder expectations.
Notably, he played a key financial leadership role in a major capital project for The Canadian Canoe Museum. There, he collaborated with the architect and project manager to develop operational and capital budgets, managed cash flow and bridge financing, oversaw government funding reports, coordinated the audit process, and navigated the challenges of pledge-based fundraising where funds and timing do not always align.
Ziyad also contributes to strong governance in the sector through his board work. He has served for nine years on the board of a children’s treatment centre, including two years as Chair of the Finance Committee and currently as Board Chair, providing strategic direction and financial stewardship.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business and has been a CPA since 2016. Outside of work, Ziyad enjoys cooking, long-distance running, travel, gardening, and following politics.
