  • "I appreciate the work of Darryl’s team, Ziyad in particular, because he is there to make sure that all of the work that we know Bruce is looking for is happening on a regular basis. He’s very good at maintaining the workload and making sure that nothing falls off the rails."
    Stephanie Smith, Mariposa Dairy
  • "Although Ziyad is not here on a full time basis, I can always get in touch with him. I hear back from him right away, and a lot of times it needs to be addressed in a quick way, so I feel I have great availability to Ziyad."
Carolyn Hyslop, Executive Director, Canadian Canoe Museum
  • "I wanted to let you know what a pleasure it was to work with Ziyad and Mitchell. The recommendations they have made to us for improved financial processes are fantastic, as are the updated policies and procedures. Our auditor is also really pleased that we have had this work done – they feel that we can now move forward in a way that brings us to where we should be at this age and stage of the organization."

Ziyad Sidawi, CPA, CMA

Ziyad Sidawi is a Chartered Professional Accountant with nearly a decade of experience supporting non-profit organizations across the community services, developmental services, arts and culture, and housing sectors. He specializes in financial oversight, operational leadership, and funding compliance, with deep knowledge of Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) requirements and practices.

His work has included process improvement initiatives, implementation of individualized budgeting tools, and oversight of housing subsidy programs. Ziyad brings a strategic approach to helping organizations manage complex funding environments, improve internal systems, and meet stakeholder expectations.

Notably, he played a key financial leadership role in a major capital project for The Canadian Canoe Museum. There, he collaborated with the architect and project manager to develop operational and capital budgets, managed cash flow and bridge financing, oversaw government funding reports, coordinated the audit process, and navigated the challenges of pledge-based fundraising where funds and timing do not always align.

Ziyad also contributes to strong governance in the sector through his board work. He has served for nine years on the board of a children’s treatment centre, including two years as Chair of the Finance Committee and currently as Board Chair, providing strategic direction and financial stewardship.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business and has been a CPA since 2016. Outside of work, Ziyad enjoys cooking, long-distance running, travel, gardening, and following politics.
